Upon your arrival in Leh, transfer to Chamba Camp, Thiksey.
Soak in the serenity and picturesque surroundings as you
relax and acclimatize.
Spend the morning at leisure at the camp, relaxing in the
pristine beauty around you. In the afternoon, embark on a
sojourn to Matho Monastery and then visit the Leh Palace
followed by the Shanti Stupa at dusk
Embark on an excursion discovering the treasures of Alchi,
admiring the dramatic landscapes along the Indus River.
Drive past the ancient citadel of Basgo, as you make your
way back to the comforts of your luxurious camp.
Visit the Thiksey Monastery for morning prayers. In the
afternoon, drive to the Hemis Monastery, one of the oldest in

• The Leh district is the coldest and most elevated inhabited
region in India with altitude ranging from 2,300 m to 6,500 m
+5½ hrs. GMT (winter) & +4½ hrs. GMT (summer)
PASSPORT: Citizens of all countries are required to hold a valid
passport that must have validity for at least 06 months post the
date of travel.
VISA: A valid single or multiple entry Indian visa is mandatory.
DOCUMENTATION: Indians: At least one Government approved
ID (i.e. Driving License, PAN Card, Passport etc) is necessary for
arrivals in Leh, Ladakh.
Foreigners: PIO, OCI and NRI (who are staying abroad for more
than 6 months) will have to apply for regular Protected/Restricted
Area Permit (PAP). The PAP allows guests to access Restricted
Areas such as the Nubra Valley, Tso Moriri, Pangong Tso, Dha-Hanu.
The PAP is issued for 7 days and can be extended conditionally.
It is very important that guests keeps at least 05 photocopies
of their Passport, Indian Visa and passport size photos, along
with the originals with them before arrival in Ladakh. Guests
need to fill the C-Form on arrival at the Camp. TUTC will procure
Protected/Restricted Area Permit for guests, prior to their arrival
Special instructions apply to visitors with journalist visa, foreign
diplomats and members of the United Nations and International
Organizations holding Diplomatic/Official Passport that is issued
by the Ministry of External Affairs. The application for Special
Permit should be referred to the respective Ministries for prior
approval, at least 08 weeks prior to the expected date of arrival.
Mandatory Medical Insurance for foreign Tourists travelling
to Ladakh is a pre-requisite before applying for the Inner Line

SECURITY: As with airports all over the world in this era, security
checks are stringent, and you and your luggage may be searched
more than once before you board your flight. At some places, it
may be necessary to identify your baggage on the tarmac before it
is loaded on to the aircraft.
• The Rupee notes are in denominations of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100,
200, 500 and 2000. The Rupee coins are in denominations of
1, 2, 5 and 10.
• You may be able to exchange currency at the currency exchange
counter at the airport or at our camp.
CREDIT CARDS: Master, Visa and American Express credit cards
HEALTH: No vaccinations are necessary to travel to India.
However, foreign tourists should be in possession of a Yellow
Fever Vaccination Certificate, conforming to International Health
regulations, if they are originating or travelling through Yellow
Fever endemic countries. The World Health Organization (WHO)
recommends the following vaccinations (as well as being up to date
with measles, mumps and rubella vaccinations): Adult diphtheria
and tetanus, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, typhoid and varicella. It is
advised to check with your doctor before travelling. Contact your
personal doctor to get information on vaccinations for India.
It is recommended that you seek medical advice a few weeks
before your departure.
FOOD & WATER: Only drink bottled water and always check that
the seal is secure. Mineral water is readily available. Avoid food
and drink from street vendors and restaurants that look suspect
with their refrigeration and sanitary practices.
ELECTRICITY: Voltage in most places is 220v AC, 50 Hz. You are
recommended to carry adapters.
GRATUITIES: Gratuities are additional to your tour price and are
completely at your discretion. Do bear in mind that your gratuity
makes a big difference to staff members at the camp, who feel
appreciated for the work that is put in. Envelopes for the excursion
specialists, naturalists and camp staff will be placed in your tent on
the last night of your stay. We request you not to tip any individual
member as the gratuity is shared equally amongst the entire staff.
TELECOM CARRIERS IN THE REGION:
• Prepaid cards subscribed outside the state of Jammu & Kashmir,
not operational in Ladakh region
• Aircel, Airtel (post paid only) and BSNL works
• It takes a minimum of 48 hours to activate a local registered number
• Chamba Camp, Thiksey will provide guests with a local number
for the duration of their stay
CLIMATE & WEATHER: Between mid-May and mid-September,
the daytime temperatures can reach 25°C and at night the
temperature drops to as low as 10°C. We recommend light
woollen clothing and shawls in the morning and early evening.
Heavy woollens with scarves, gloves and hats are recommended
at nights. Layered clothing works well, and it is essential to carry
sunscreen lotion of SPF 30+ as at this high altitude, the sun’s rays
are particularly strong.
Stout and comfortable shoes are recommended for excursions,
along with a pair of sunglasses. Slip-on footwear is best for
temple/monastery excursions along with modest and conservative
clothing. In the evenings, we prefer smart-casual clothing around
the camp and in the dining room.
